The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) held a second-round discussion with civic associations licensed for voter education

The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) held a second round of discussions with licensed civil society organizations. The discussion, opened by the Deputy Chairperson of the Board, Woubshet Ayele, was held for two consecutive days and ended on March 12, 2021. Abera Degefa (Dr.), board member, presented the basic rules set out in the first day of the forum for the issuance of voter education licensing and Code of Conduct Directive No. 4/2012 in relation to the responsibilities of civic associations. The main issues to be addressed during the voter education session, a memorandum for civic organizations, a report form and issues related to the Code of Conduct were discussed by the Board's Civic and Voter Education Department staff. Introducing Covid 19 Guidelines and Code of Conduct to Voter Education was another agenda item for the first day of discussion, which was explained by the Board's Covid 19 coordinator. Following the questions, the comments made by the participants were answered by the Board's leadership, Dr. Abera Degefa, and by departments of the board.

The importance of inclusive voter education, expected outcomes of the training, and efforts being made by the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) to include the election are among the agenda items on the second day of the forum. Presentation by the Board's Gender and Inclusion Unit regarding the Gender and Disability Inclusion Application Methods and the Responsibilities of Civic Associations in Ethical Guidance with respect to voter education has been provided by an expert with international experience. Following the explanations, in addition to discussions with the participants, the participants were invited to discuss in groups and share their ideas.
