Information from the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia regarding constituencies where voter registration has not yet begun

It is known that the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia is conducting voter registration for the 6th National Election. It is also clear that voter registration has been delayed in some constituencies. The Board, in collaboration with the regional government bodies, has been working to start voter registration in areas where voter registration has not yet begun, and now decided to hold the voter registration from May 5 to May 21, 2021.

Accordingly:

  • In West Welega Zone (except Begi and Segno Gebeya constituencies)
  • In East Welega Zone (except Ayana and Galila constituencies)
  • In Kellem Welega zone
  • In Horo Guduru Zone (except Alibo, Gidam and Kombolcha constituencies), in 24 of the 31 constituencies
  • In Benishangul-Gumuz, Kamash Zone (except the Sedal constituency) voter registration will be held during the above mentioned date in Four of the Five constituencies
  • In addition, voter registration will take place from May 7 - 21, 2021 in Dawa Chefe, Chefa Robit, and Bati constituencies in the Oromo Special Zone of Amhara State, where voter registration was not conducted due to security concerns.

Therefore, we urge political parties, the media and civil society organizations to do their part for the success of voter registration by providing information and showing all necessary cooperation.
