The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE), in collaboration with the Ethiopian Media Authority, allocated free airtime to the competing political parties and independent candidates who will run in the September 30 Election.

The airtime allocation is provided based on the directive to 22 political parties and 106 independent candidates who are running for seats in Somali, Harari, and SNNP Regions, and this is conducted through three radio channels, four television stations, and four newspapers.

The forum was attended by all five Board management, the Chief Executive of the Board and all the representatives of the departments of the Board, and the Chairperson of the board, Birtukan Midekssa, opened the meeting. The National Election Board of Ethiopia consulted with political parties who had participated in the 6th General Election and complained about the voting process. The consultation, which was attended by the chairman of the Board, Birtukan Mideksa, and the vice chairman of the board, Woubshet Ayele, intended to address the grievances of the parties and to enable them to share their constructive ideas that will help them find a quicker and better solution with respect to the time the Board has. Some Points about the Announcement of Results of the Election

One of the major targets of an election process is to properly compile voting results and announce them step by step to the public on time. The Board is expected to gather, organize, and announce to the public results transferred from polling stations to the headquarters by using modern information technology. Unless there exists a proven uncontrollable situation, an official announcement consisting of the following points is released in 10 days after the Election Day.

Short Notice from the National Election Board of Ethiopia

The 6th national election ended peacefully yesterday. Accordingly, the results of the census are being announced today at the polling stations. Voting will continue today in areas where voting was not completed yesterday.

Based on this

1. Voting continues in all constituencies of Sidama Region starting at 11:00 am and will end today.

2. Voting in some constituencies of Gambella Region where the process was interrupted will continue today starting from 2:00 pm and will end today.
