The formation of a Joint Council of Women Political Party Members took place on September 3, 2021. Members of the Board leadership Bizuwerk Ketete, Abera Degefu (Dr.), Fikre G/Hiwot, Wubshet Ayele, and also women political party members were present at the meeting which was opened by a speech from the Deputy Chairperson of the Board, Wubshet Ayele.

It is known that the National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) held peaceful polling for House of People’s Representatives (HoPR) and Regional Council (RC) seats in Harari and Somali Regions and also the South Western Ethiopia referendum on September 30, 2021.

We would like to remind you that party representatives can collect their badges from the constituencies where their parties are running in the polling to be held on September 30, 2021 in Somali, Harari, and SNNP regional states so that you can be present at the poll stations to observe the polling process.

Statement on the Usage of the Previously Provided Badges to the Media

It is known that the National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) has provided special reporting badges to the media personnel and journalists after having them submit their requests. The Board would like to announce that the local media personnel and journalists can use these badges to report the election to be held in constituencies where it hasn’t been conducted yet, the re-election, and referendum that will be held on September 30, 2021.

It is known that the National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) has drafted and approved a directive that allows it to grant accreditation and follow up political parties based the authority it was bestowed by the Ethiopian Electoral, Political Parties Registration, and Election’s Code of Conduct Proclamation 1162/2019 and the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia Establishment Proclamation No.1133/2019.

The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) held a consultation with civil society organizations engaged in voter education. Deputy chairperson of the Board, Wubshet Ayele, members of the Board leadership, Abera Degefa (Dr.) and Bizuwerk Ketete, and Melatwork Hailu, CEO of the Board, were present at the consultation. The consultation was opened by a speech from the deputy chairperson who thanked the CSOs for their significant role in the success of the General Election.

The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) passed a decision concerning voter registration in constituencies where polling hasn’t been conducted or been interrupted

It is known that the National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) conducted the 6th General Election on June 21, 2021. However, there were some constituencies where polling was not conducted on the date specified above due to major irregularities related to Voter Registration (VR), the time needed to clarify complaints on Voter Registration, and issues related to security.

The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) announced the Electoral Calendar after having a discussion with political parties who are running in the constituencies where polling was not held on June 21, 2021.

The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) held a discussion on August 19, 2021 with political parties who are running in the constituencies where it was not held on June 21. With the presence of all of the Board management, Birtukan Midekssa, the Chairperson of the Board presented NEBE’s activity report since the last electoral cycle.
