The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE), re-established by proclamation No. 1133/2011, is the constitutionally mandated body to conduct elections, organize referendum and regulate political parties in Ethiopia. NEBE is working to boost its’ institutional strength with a special focus on enhancement of human resource capacity. Accordingly, NEBE would like to invite applicants for Regional Field Operations Desk Coordinator position who meet the following requirements to apply.

NEBE holds 7th General Election free airtime lottery for political parties

The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE), on March 28, 2026, held the 7th General Election free-airtime lottery for political parties. NEBE Chairperson Melatwork Hailu, in her opening remarks, said the Board has been preparing the free-airtime allocation for weeks in collaboration with the Ethiopian Media Authority.

NEBE Launches Ballot Lottery to Determine Sequence of Candidates Images and Symbols

The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) today, March 23, 2026, launched a ballot lottery to determine the order of candidates’ images and symbols on the ballot paper. Melatwork Hailu, Chairperson of NEBE, delivered opening remarks in the presence of representatives from political parties, civil society organizations, and the media.

NEBE Consults Political Parties on Security Issues for the 7th General Election

The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) consulted with political parties on security issues in constituencies for the 7th general election on March 11, 2026. All five board members, including Chairperson Melatwork Hailu, attended the consultation. During the meeting, the parties provided additional clarification on constituency security concerns they had identified and submitted to the Board in advance.

Political Parties Sign Code of Conduct as NEBE Officially Launches Election Symbols

The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) organized an event at the end of the past week where political parties participating in the 7th General Election signed the Election Code of Conduct. Melatwork Hailu, Chairperson of NEBE, delivered the opening remarks in the presence of political parties, civil society organizations, and media, during which 48 contesting parties’ election symbols were launched.
