Provision of election materials and education for persons with disability begins

Disability and Gender Inclusion are among the major activities that the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia has been focusing on since its re-establishment. To help increase the reach of the electoral law to the blind, the board begun handing out braille publications to civil society organizations that provide voter education to persons with disability and observe the election. In addition to the braille, the board has begun issuing badges that would allow civil society observers have a legal recognition at polling stations.

The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) is issuing a special license badge to media institutions and journalists who have applied in the first round to comply with the provisions of the proclamation and its directives.

Following the Board's call for media coverage of the first round, 28 media outlets submitted applications, out of which 21 media outlets and more than 800 journalists working in these media have received media coverage accreditation. The Board recommended that those who have not received a special report permit due to the expiration date or lack of additional information should submit their application by next week.
