ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW

The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE), re-established by proclamation No. 1133/2011, is the constitutionally mandated body to conduct elections, organize referendum and regulate political parties in Ethiopia. NEBE is working to boost its’ institutional strength with a special focus on enhancement of human resource capacity. Accordingly, NEBE would like to invite applicants for Deputy Asset Manager position who meet the following requirements to apply.

The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) provided training to senior police officers on election security for three consecutive days on March 7, 2013. Deputy Chairperson of the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia, Woubshet Ayele, opened the training for trainers in collaboration with the Ethiopian Police University. Explaining the importance of election peace and stability for the success of the election, it was noted that the trainees should pass the training action plan down to the security forces at all levels of the hierarchy.

The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia Holds a Consultation Forum on the Registration Process and General Operations

National Electoral Board of Ethiopia held a consultative forum on candidate registration and general operations on March 8, 2013. The forum was held with the participation of political parties in the media. The Chairman of the Board, Birtukan Mideksa, launched the program as part of a series of consultative forums that have been taking place since the announcement of the election timetable. She provided an overview of candidate registration and related operations.

National Electoral Board of Ethiopia holds Consultative Forum on Women Inclusive Election Campaigns and the Role of Stakeholders

National Electoral Board of Ethiopia held a consultative forum with political parties and stakeholders on March 15, 2021 regarding women inclusive election campaign and the role of stakeholders. The forum was opened by Wubishet Ayele, Deputy Chairman of the Board. In his speech, the deputy chairperson described the progress of women's political participation over the past 30 years. He added that despite progress, much remains to be done.

The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) held a second-round discussion with civic associations licensed for voter education

The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) held a second round of discussions with licensed civil society organizations. The discussion, opened by the Deputy Chairperson of the Board, Woubshet Ayele, was held for two consecutive days and ended on March 12, 2021. Abera Degefa (Dr.), board member, presented the basic rules set out in the first day of the forum for the issuance of voter education licensing and Code of Conduct Directive No. 4/2012 in relation to the responsibilities of civic associations.

The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia provides training to local civil society organizations applied to observe the 6th National Elections and were qualified in the first round

The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia provided training on March 5 and 8, 2021 to local civil society organizations which applied to observe the 6th National Election and which have passed the first round. The forum was opened by Woubshet Ayele, Deputy Chairperson of the Board, and documents were presented by the Board's Program expert, Department of External Relations, Gender and Inclusion department of the Board, as well as experts with international experience.

Advert issued by the Electoral Board to recruit additional election officials

It is to be recalled that the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) has completed the recruitment of more than 140,000 potential election officials for the 6th General Election and is now working to ensure the consent, impartiality, and competence of the election officials.

Cognizant of the fact that, election officials are an integral part of the electoral process and that their work requires great attention. In this regard, with the aim to avoid shortage of manpower once the process begins, the Board believes that there is a need for additional manpower recruitment.

It is to be remembered that the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) failed to hold the 6th general election on August 29, 2020 due to the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Board is currently undertaking various activities in making necessary preparations to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 during the election.
