The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) has provided poll worker training in voter registration stations for the election to be held on September 30, 2021.
The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) is finalizing its preparations for the voter registration of the election to be held on September 30, 2021. Related to this, it has provided trainings on two consecutive days to poll workers in Harari Region on August 28 and 29, 2021 and in Somali and SNNP Regions on August 29 and 30, 2021.
Some of the agendas included in the training were frameworks of Electoral Laws, organization of a poll station, concepts and criteria of voter registration, measures to prevent COVID-19, inclusiveness of gender and disability principles, electoral timetable and working hours, responsibilities of each poll station, roles and responsibilities of observers, representatives, and media personnel, operational materials/registration kit, posters providing information to voters, activities to be accomplished before voter registration, procedures of voter registration, steps in setting up complaints hearing committee of poll station, procedures of voter registration in special constituencies, reporting formats of constituencies, security regulations for voter registration, electoral complaints resolution process, logistics, and operational and administrative issues.
The Board has previously provided a brief revision training to former trainers on August 25, 2021 so that they in turn train the poll workers in Harari, Somali, and SNNP Regions. Besides training equipment, voter registration materials were distributed from the head office to the constituencies from August 24 – 27, 2021.
