NEBE Demonstrates the Online Observer CSOs Registration and Electoral Data Management System

The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) demonstrated the online observer Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) registration and data management system for 54 registered observer CSOs on November 4th to 5th, 2025. The demonstration event aimed to incorporate the inputs of the observer CSOs into the developed system, which will transform the paper-based registration system into a digital one.

NEBE Reflects on Best Practices from International Experience and 6th General Election

The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) reflected on its international experience and the best practices from the 6th General Election. During the reflection event, which took place in the presence of the five Board members, heads of departments and regional branch offices, and senior experts, the Board’s delegations who participated in election observations in various countries shared their experiences with the participants. This event occurred last week, from October 29 to 31, 2025.

NEBE Accredits 143 CSOs to Provide Voter Education for the 7th General Election

The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) accredited 143 Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) that will provide voter education for the 7th General Election. Teklit Yimsel, a member of the Board, stated in his opening speech that, in order to ensure the voting base has enough knowledge, the role of civil society is indispensable in providing all-inclusive education that is participatory and transparent. He stressed that the education must be available in all languages to reach everyone, with a particular focus on women and persons with disabilities.

Mock Debate to Strengthen Political Parties’ Skills Has Ended

The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) has been holding a mock debate between political parties, which took place from October 21st to October 24th, 2025, and has now ended. The mock debate has been holding following the NEBE presented the draft election timetable for political parties a day before. The debate which amid in enhancing the skills of political parties in debating various policies and programs, was moderated by Media and Communications Professional named Getachew Dinku (PhD) and Blen Fitsum.

NEBE Launches Mock Debate to Strengthen Political Parties’ Skills Ahead of 7th General Election

The mock debate was launched a day after the NEBE presented the draft election timetable for political parties. In her opening remarks, the NEBE Chairperson, Melatwork Hailu, stated that the mock debate will enhance the skills of political parties in debating various policies and programs.

NEBE Holds Discussion with Political Parties on Draft Electoral Timetable for the 7th General Election

The National Election Board of Ethiopia is currently carrying out a diverse of pre-election activities to implement the 7th general election in the current year. On October 20, 2025, the Board held a consultative discussion with leaders and representatives of political parties regarding the draft timetable for the 7th general election. The draft timetable encompasses all major pre-election activities until the final result is announced.

NEBE provides training on Election Observation Methodology to CSOs participating in election observation

The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) is carrying out a series of pre-election activities that will enable the Board to conduct an inclusive, credible, and transparent 7th general election. The development of a technologically based voter and candidate registration system is listed among the top pre-election activities. While undertaking this and other activities, the NEBE has consulted Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and other relevant stakeholders.

NEBE Honored with Electoral Ergonomic Award at 21st International Electoral Symposium

The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) has been awarded the Electoral Ergonomic Award for Outstanding Achievement at the 21st Annual International Electoral Awards and Symposium, held in Gaborone, Botswana, on October 2–3, 2025. The prestigious event was co-hosted by the Independent Electoral Commission of Botswana and the International Centre for Parliamentary Studies (ICPS).
