Sidama Referendum

This is a referendum that took place on November 20, 2019 regarding statehood of Sidama following a formal letter written to National Election Board of Ethiopia by Southern Nation, Nationality and People’s Region’s Representative. In the referendum, the option to establish Sidama as a region garnered 98.9% of the total votes.

Amhara and Qemant Referendum

This is a referendum that took place on September 17, 2017 to determine whether Qemant should “stay under the old administration” or “be established as a self-autonomous administration” in the Amhara regional state Northern Gondar zone in four woredas and 12 kebeles where ethnic Amaras and Qemant people live.
