The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE), in collaboration with the Ethiopian Media Authority, allocated free airtime to the competing political parties and independent candidates who will run in the Election to be held on September 30

The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE), in collaboration with the Ethiopian Media Authority, allocated free airtime to the competing political parties and independent candidates who will run in the September 30 Election.

The airtime allocation is provided based on the directive to 22 political parties and 106 independent candidates who are running for seats in Somali, Harari, and SNNP Regions, and this is conducted through three radio channels, four television stations, and four newspapers.

According to the time allocation, 39 hours of free airtime on TV is provided to political parties and 26 and a half hours to independent candidates while 32 free airtime hours is provided on radio to political parties and 26 hours to independent candidates. In addition to these, 45 newspaper columns are also provided. These allocations will be made available starting from September 7, 2021, so political parties and independent candidates can collect their allocation from the head office of the Board. The allocation is made using the previously used lottery technology.
