The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia hands over records of the Institute of Ethnic Studies to the Ethiopian National Archives and Library Agency.

The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia on Monday (December 21th, 2020), handed over records of the Institute of Ethnic Studies to the Ethiopian National Archives and Library Agency. It is known that the Board has inherited the documents of the Institute for the Study of Nationalities established by the previous government in March 1983. The following are the five different sectors where studies have been conducted on, by the institute:

• Study of History, Culture, and Language
• Social Sector
• Management Study Team
• Economic Research Group and
• Constitutional Study Group

The study was mainly led by five scholars, and more than five senior university graduates have also participated. When the Board decided to submit the documents to the Agency, it is with the understanding of the importance of keeping the records in a place where those who wish to understand more and do research can easily find them. The handover ceremony was held in the presence of Birtukan Mideksa, chairperson of the National Electoral Board and Yikonoamlak Mezgebu, director general of the Ethiopian National Archives and Library Agency. Scholars who conducted the study and the media have also attended the ceremony.

The handover ceremony was opened by the speeches of chairwoman of the board, Birtukan Mideksa, and the director of the agency, Yikonoamlak. After hearing comments from scholars, the ceremony ended with the opening of the records to the invited guests and the media.
