The National Electoral Board Ethiopias decision on complaints from Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) leadership

It is known that the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) has received various complaints from members of the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) leadership regarding the change of leadership and suspension.
On one hand, on August 7, 2020, Ararso Bikila and others, by two letters dated 06 / ABO / 12 and 7/08/12 05/03/19, number 08 / ABO / 12, had informed NEBE that the party's executive committee had imposed a ban on the party's chairman, Daoud Ibsa, and asked the board to approve the decision.

On the other hand, Dawud Ibsa wrote a letter dated 08/10/2020 number/xly/abo/ 2020 notifying NEBE that members of the executive committee like Araso Bikila, Tolera Teshome, Atomsa Kumsa and members of the National Assembly like Kejela Merdasa and Arbcho Dima have been suspended from their posts until the next general assembly, and have asked the board to recognize the decision. The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia has investigated the above-mentioned letters and other written petitions on October 8, 2020, explaining the disagreement among party members. In the event of a dispute between members of a political party and a complaint to the Board, the board shall have the power to establish a panel of experts to consider the matter in accordance with Article 74, Sub-Article 6 of Proclamation No. 1162/19.

Therefore, on its meeting held on October 8, 2020, the Board has decided to form a panel of experts consisting one representative from each side and accompanied by one additional expert selected by the board to chair these two experts. Accordingly, the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia will make a final decision based on the recommendations of the two bodies and the experts selected by the Board.
