NEBE Launches Training for 7th General Election Master Trainers
The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) has launched a two-day training session for master trainers involved in the 7th General Election, who will, in turn, train field trainers. The opening remarks for the training, which began on February 20, 2026, and will conclude today, February 21, 2026, were delivered by NEBE Chairperson Melatwork Hailu. She emphasized that the role of poll workers is indispensable in ensuring the free, fair, and impartial conduct of the 7th General Election, and that the responsibility of the master trainers will be key in fostering proficient poll workers who respect legal obligations. Melatwork stressed that the master trainers must cascade this training to field trainers with a strong sense of responsibility and focus.
In this session, around 300 master trainers will learn how to conduct both manual and technology-based voter registration appropriately. Following the training, these master trainers will train 5,000 field trainers across all designated centers. The field trainers, in turn, are expected to train more than 214,000 poll workers.
