The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) submitted a budget request of 541 million birr for the referendum to be held in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and People’s Region of Ethiopia (SNNPR).

The National Election Board of Ethiopia has submitted a budget of 541,270,104.82 to the House of People's Representatives for the implementation of the referendum to be held in the SNNPR.

It is known that the board will conduct a referendum on six zones under the Southern Regional Government, namely in Gamo, Gofa, Wolayta, Gedio, Konso, and South Omo zones and five special districts, namely Burji, Amaro, Derashe, Basketo, and Alle.

On August 18, 2022, the Board was requested in a written letter by the House of Federation to organize a referendum in the mentioned zones and specific districts and announce the results. Accordingly, the Board has prepared and submitted an action plan including the detailed tasks required to carry out the referendum. It also submitted the budget to the House of Representatives to implement the general activities mentioned in the action plan of the referendum.
