Chairman of the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia, Birtukan Mideksa, holds talks with EU Commissioner

The Chairman of the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia, Birtukan Mideksa, today held talks with the representatives of the European Union and the ambassadors of the member states. During the discussion, the ambassadors discussed issues related to the reorganization of the Electoral Board, the recruitment of new Board members, the election budget and financial support, Sidama's territorial claim, the extension of the housing and census and its effect on the election, the voting rights of internally displaced people, and women's participation in elections. During the meeting, both the European Union and EU member states reaffirmed their full support for efforts to make the Board a credible and competent institution and to ensure that the upcoming elections are internationally recognized.
